The much-anticipated sequel to 1993’s Hocus Pocus released directly to Disney+ on September 30th. We celebrated with a Hocus Pocus 2 Party. Continue reading for all the details!
Come, we fly!
I started with a trip to Dollar Tree for black tablecloths, black cheesecloth, and spiderwebbing in which to camouflage the miscellaneous items in our garage.
After adding spiders, pumpkins, cauldrons, witch’s hats, and stockings, I transformed a battery-operated candle into the Black Flame Candle. The symbols on the outside of the candle were drawn on with brown permanent marker. Then I colored the flame black and stuck it on a pedestal!
I’ve always wanted a child. And now I think I’ll have one on toast!
Hocus Pocus tablecloths from Walmart served as the base for our snack setup! I created a charcuterie board featuring Winnie, Mary, and Sarah with kid-friendly snacks and dips. The faces were made from queso, ranch, and hummus, but you could use brie for an adult crowd.
For dessert we had Billy Butcherson Fingers, which were made from pretzel rods dipped in melted vanilla almond bark dyed green with matcha powder. Once dipped, I set them on waxed paper and added an almond sliver for the nail and sprinkled them with more matcha powder.
We used mini Reese cups to make the Sanderson Sisters’ Brooms. Once unwrapped and placed upside down on a plate, they were microwaved for about 10 seconds to soft enough to insert the pretzel sticks. This is a treat your little ones can help with!
It’s Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus
A Potion Mixing Station entertained our guests before the movie. You’ll need a variety of containers, water, food coloring, and plastic pipettes from Amazon. Fill the three largest containers with water and add two drops of food coloring to each. Using the pipettes, the potion mixers transfer water to the smaller containers which make different colors. Kids LOVE this activity!
Pin the Eye on Book proved to be a super fun game. I recreated Winnifred’s spell book using brown kraft paper and Sharpies. Each guest got a large sticky-back eye, then they were blindfolded and spun before attempting to place the eyeball in the right spot. They had a blast and even requested to play again!
We started the movie with a cauldron of popcorn and a platter of movie candy. The kids enjoyed Shrunken Head Apple Cider. I peeled apples and carved faces into them, then added them to a crock pot of cider. Floating in the cider they look like little shrunken heads. For adults, I prepared sangria using red wine, lemon-lime soda, lime juice, and fruit. To chill it, I filled plastic gloves with water and froze them. Once they were solid, I removed the gloves and added the hands to the sangria.
I hope this gives you some inspiration to have your own watch party or family movie night!
